MINUTES MEMBERSHIP MEETING – March 20, 2017

Attendance: Georgann Blair, Nancy Bowman, Nancy Franks, Nancy Gavin, Ludina Mills, Cindy Naprestik, Betty Lou Palmer; Karen Sigsworth, Margaret Truman, Vee Valega and Janet Willoughby. Speaker: David Simmer Betty Lou Palmer, president, brought our meeting to order.

Program – David Simmer is a professor at Lorain County Community College in the Arts and Humanities Department and is a sacred landmarks expert. He has written two books. He showed us many pictures of different stained glass windows in various churches in Lorain County including three churches in North Ridgeville. They are St. Peters Catholic Church, First Congregational Church of Christ and Fields United Methodist Church. In other churches we saw plain windows, and many variations of stained glass windows. Many have Plexiglas on the outside and beautiful stained glass on the inside. David teaches a course at LCCC on The Churches Around the Square in Elyria. He leads Armchair Travels at LCCC and bus tours including a Unique Lorain Landmarks Tour on April 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. He is president of the Friends of Sacred Landmarks. We enjoyed seeing the many stained glass windows and learning about them.

Minutes – Nancy Franks made a motion that we accept the February minutes as received and Ludina Mills seconded the motion.

Financial Report – Ludina Mills, our treasurer, reported our current bank balance is $4,016.74. She gave copies of the financial statement from February 20 through March 20 to members in attendance. The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

Community Care – Betty Lou Palmer purchased Easter candy with the money we donated last month. Betty keeps baskets as they are donated to be used for Easter baskets. We donated $200 for candy last month. Some of our members will be putting baskets together on March 28 at 9:30 a.m. at Community Care.

North Ridgeville City Schools Endowment Fund – Georgann Blair reported they are having a fundraiser at Fiesta Jalapenos on Thursday, April 13 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Endowment Fund will receive 20% of all receipts from those people who bring in the flyer. We appreciate anyone who comes in to eat or gets a carryout dinner.

North Ridgeville Recreation Department – Nancy Bowman made a motion that we donate $250 to South Central Park and Margaret Truman seconded the motion for a Summer Movie Series each week starting June 16 at dusk for six weeks. It is a family event.

NRAC Officers for the 2017 – 2018 Fiscal Year – The following people have been chosen as officers of the 2017 – 2018 year with the fiscal year beginning in April. There will be election of officers at our April meeting on April 17. Betty Lou Palmer – President Nancy Franks – Vice President and Program Chairman Ludina Mills – Treasurer Mary Beth Bogner – Secretary

Georgann moved to accept the slate of officers as chosen and Cindy Naprestik seconded the motion.

North Ridgeville Corn Fest Arts and Crafts Fair – The Corn Fest will be held on the weekend of August 11-13, 2017 in the air-conditioned North Ridgeville Senior Center. We currently have 6 people who have paid. Mark your calendars.

A motion to close the meeting was made by Janet Willoughby and Vee Valega seconded the motion. Thank you, Nancy Franks, for the delicious refreshments. We enjoyed the goodies and the visiting.
