MINUTES – MEMBERSHIP MEETING – October 16, 2017
Attendance: Georgann Blair, Nancy Gavin, Ludina Mills, Betty Lou Palmer; Cindy Naprestik, Karen Sigsworth, and Vee Valega
Program – Georgann showed us how to carve our gourds. We established our design and carved it. Some of us completed them and some did not. Those who did not complete them will finish at home.
Betty Lou Palmer, president, brought our meeting to order.
Minutes – Ludina made a motion that we approve the September minutes as received and Georgann seconded the motion.
Financial Report – Ludina Mills, our treasurer, distributed the report to those in attendance. Our current bank balance is $4,911.90, not including an addition for the interest, which Ludina had not received. The scholarship for Morgan Chilton of $1500 was paid to her school. The treasurer’s report was accepted as read. The donation of $300 we recently made was noted in the Olde Towne Hall Theatre program for “Without a Clue.”
Donations/Memberships – Our total received is $1,735. Thank you all who generously donated. It is not too late to still donate as our fiscal year ends in March. It can be mailed to our PO Box or brought to a meeting.
Barbara Sutton Passing – Librarian, Storyteller and Arts Council member for many years. Barb’s obituary was in The Plain Dealer and The North Ridgeville Press last week. Services were private.
North Ridgeville City Schools Endowment Fund – Georgann Blair reported that on October 18 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The North Ridgeville City Schools Endowment Committee will have a fundraiser at The Lube at 4900 Transportation Dr., Sheffield, OH. 10% of their proceeds will be donated. Some possibilities were discussed of more fundraising opportunities. Perhaps we could partner with other groups. We plan to have a Dine to Donate at The Melt in Avon in 2018 in which we will receive 20%. Discover the Ridge in the spring for the city might be another possibility.
One World Shop will have a shopping event for us on Tuesday, November 28 as a fundraiser from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. They are located in Rocky River across from the old Beachcliff Theater at 19321 Detroit Road. Their shop is focused on fair trade which is a commitment to providing fair wages, sustainable employment opportunities and safe working conditions to economically disadvantaged artisans in developing countries and here at home.
Thank you, Georgann Blair, for the delicious refreshments. We enjoyed your Halloween goodies.
