MINUTES – MEMBERSHIP MEETING – September 17, 2018
Attendance: Julie Bajda, Georgann Blair, Nancy Franks, Nancy Gavin, Ludina Mills, Betty Lou Palmer, Garalynn Tomas, and Vee Valega.
Betty Lou Palmer, president, brought our meeting to order. She welcomed all of us.
Minutes – Nancy Franks moved to accept the minutes as read. Georgann seconded the motion.
Financial Report – Ludina Mills, treasurer, distributed the report. Our bank balance is $3,922.04. Garalynn moved to accept the report and Nancy Franks seconded the motion. We paid Sidney Coleman, our scholarship winner, $1500 which is a reimbursement of school fees she had paid.
Arts and Crafts Fair at the Corn Festival – Our Arts and Crafts Fair was a success. We had many nice raffle prizes. The Raffle earned $784 and the Bake Sale received $315.75. Due to heavy rains a couple of days prior to the Festival, the large rides had to be cancelled. There was too much mud. Consequently attendance was down somewhat.
Membership Drive of 2018-2019 – Our annual membership/donation letter was mailed this month. Membership dues of $20 are currently due and we appreciate any donations to Arts Council.
Olde Towne Hall Theatre – During the period of October 12 through October 27, the Olde Towne Hall Theatre will present “Little Shop of Horrors.” We, as a group, would like to go support them and see another one of their excellent performances. Let’s plan on Friday, October 12 at 7:30 p.m. Call Nancy Gavin at 440-353-9395 to make reservations. If you cannot come then, plan to go another day.
Program – Our program involved a trip to At Home store in Avon to plan decorating our homes. Instead of refreshments after our meeting, we stopped at Steak N Shake nearby to enjoy an ice cream sundae or milk shake. All of us enjoyed the ice cream and sharing in conversation.
October and November Meetings – At our October meeting Phyllis Levine, author of the Matilda book series, will give her observations on her written journey to being published. She will speak at 7:00 p.m. In November bring a small pumpkin with about 15 real leaves so we can make a Holiday center piece.
