Attendance: Julie Bajda, Georgann Blair, Nancy Franks, Nancy Gavin, Ludina Mills, Cindy Naprestek, Betty Lou Palmer; Karen Sigsworth, and Vee Valega. Guest: Harry Berg
Program – Harry Berg is a self-taught artist who carves wood figures as a hobby. He gives many of them to family and friends and enjoys creating them. He uses many kinds of small knives to carve them and paints many of his pieces. He has taken a few classes to learn more about his hobby. Most of his pieces are made from basswood and include many animals, a fisherman, cowboy, Santa Claus, etc. He, also, created a cane from Queen Palm seed pods on Willow wood and a walking stick. Both are very unique. Harry worked a variety of jobs over the years including 30 years of service as a Fireman in Elyria. Thanks to Nancy Franks for bringing a friend she has met through her church who is very talented.
Betty Lou Palmer, president, brought our meeting to order. She welcomed all of us.
Minutes – We unanimously approved the minutes as distributed.
Financial Report – Ludina Mills, treasurer, distributed the report. Our bank balance is $4,113.28. The statement was approved as received.
The Senior Breakfast – Member, Toni Krone, presented our Artistic Endeavor Award Scholarship winner, Sidney Ann Coleman, with a $1500 scholarship. She will be attending the University of Akron and majoring in Graphic Design and Photography. The winner must be attending a school majoring in some form of the Arts and live in North Ridgeville in order to qualify for the award. Congratulations, Sidney!
