MEMBERSHIP MEETING – February 16, 2015
Attendance: Georgann Blair, Nancy Gavin, Ilona Manista, Betty Lou Palmer; Karen Sigsworth, Jerry Toich, Margaret Truman and Vee Valega. Guest Speaker: Dawn Reese. Ilona Manista, president, opened our meeting and introduced our speaker.
Program: Dawn Reese from Dolls and Minis presenting Fairies and Fairy Gardens. Her store in the Grand Pacific Junction in Olmsted Falls is a doll hospital, has a variety of wooden toys and doll houses as well as many types of miniatures. Dawn told us the history of Fairy Gardens starting in 1917. These miniature gardens can be made for use inside or outside. There are good and bad fairies, but we only want to attract good ones. She gave us many ideas of what can be placed in a fairy garden.
January minutes – Betty Lou Palmer made a motion to accept the minutes from our January meeting and Georgann seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous in favor.
Christmas Dinner Party – A thank you note was received from Community Care and read. They appreciate the donation from the auction of gifts that we brought.
North Ridgeville Corn Fest Arts and Crafts Fair – Betty Lou Palmer has mailed 30 contracts to vendors who may be interested in participating in the Corn Fest in August.
Artistic Endeavor Award Scholarship – The scholarship forms were delivered to Marlene Fedorko at the North Ridgeville High School. Any high school senior living in North Ridgeville who plans to attend college and study in the field of the Arts is eligible for this scholarship.
North Ridgeville City Schools Endowment – Georgann reported that they are having a Spring Madness Party at Bullfrog’s Sports Café on Thursday, March 19 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $20 and include appetizers, pizza, soft drinks and wide screen TV to watch opening rounds of NCAA Basketball tournament. Proceeds support scholarships and grants. The tea baskets and a cooking basket have been put together for the raffle. We donated $60 to cover the cost of a tea basket for the event. Anyone is invited to attend.
North Ridgeville Library – Karen Sigsworth announced that the Art Shows from our North Ridgeville Schools will be held in May in the library. They, also, have many interesting and entertaining programs on Sunday afternoons through March.
Thank you Betty Day for the delicious refreshments you served. Everyone enjoyed the conversation and the goodies.
