Monday, November 18 – MEMBERSHIP MEETING at the North Ridgeville Library at 7 p.m.

MEMBERSHIP MEETING – September 16, 2013

Attendance: Nancy Bowman, Margaret Brooks-Terry, Betty Day, Nancy Gavin, Betty Lou Palmer; Ilona Manista, Pat Pitts, Karen Sigsworth, Lynn Telenko, Lorrie Ternes and Vee Valega.

Program – Barb Wilson was our speaker who has been playing the Bagpipes for 10 years. She is very active as a piper and plays competitively. Female pipers are unusual. She said her bagpipes are made of wood from a blackwood tree, which is much better quality than redwood. She has a practice chanter so that she can practice and not make as much noise so as not to disturb the family or neighbors. She has a Scotsman teacher, Sandy Hain. Barb showed us her uniform which has many layers and is very warm. This program was very informative and we learned a lot. Everyone enjoyed it.

Corn Fest Arts and Craft Fair – The coloring contest for young artists was a success. There were many entries and prizes for the first three places of each age category. The raffle with many good prizes made $747 and the bake sale made $207.30. We sold $135 in Wendy’s certificates.

Financial Report – Betty Day reported that our total bank balance as of September 15 was $5,228.31. The Arts and Crafts Fair profit was $1,831.18. The financial report was approved as read. Currently we sold all but 7 Wendy’s certificates which were purchased for $1 each.

Membership – Thank you to those who have paid their dues or given a donation. Currently we have received $1815. Membership dues are still $20 per year. If you have not responded, you may still send a check to our PO Box 39283 or bring it to the meeting.

Artistic Endeavor Award Scholarship – Marisa Pekol, scholarship winner of our 2013 Artistic Endeavor Award Scholarship, has received her award money. Good luck, Marisa. We wish you the best.

Olde Towne Hall Theatre – We received a thank you note for our $150 donation to help sponsor 3 youth to travel to a competition.

October 21 Membership Meeting – Learn the Art of Taking Care of yourself daily through relaxation, aromatherapy and proper skin care treatments. Nothing makes you feel more refreshed and youthful than well maintained gorgeous skin on your face and body. You will not only learn relaxation techniques, but you will experience skin care treatments as well. Come prepared for a group Spa Escape to melt your stress away. Wear little to no makeup; you will experience a facial along with your choice of hydrating masques. Bring a pair of footies so you can enjoy our aromatherapy relaxing foot treatment, too, along with a couple other treatments that you won’t want to miss.

Artistic Travel Outing – Nancy Bowman is organizing a gathering to attend “Lend Me a Tenor” at Olde Towne Hall Theatre on Saturday, October 19 at 8 p.m. Some of us are eating at the Roast Beef Dinner at Fields United Methodist Church at the 5:45 seating prior to the show. The Metropolitan Opera has a Saturday matinee at 12:55 p.m. many Saturdays during October through May. If you are interested in any of these outings, please call Nancy at 440-748-6623.

Nancy Bowman moved to adjourn the meeting and Ilona seconded the motion.

Thank you, Nancy Gavin, for the refreshments which everyone enjoyed while visiting.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Gavin
