Barb Sutton was kind enough to fill in for our program. She entertained us with a few of her stories. Thank you Barb!
Treasurer’s Report: Betty Day reported that the total bank balance is $4,512.49. The treasurer’s report was approved as read.
Arts Fair at Corn Festival: Betty Lou has 6 contracts so far.
Major School Performance: Update given by Alan Willoughby. In the 2011-2012 school year, the Middle school was selected to receive the $300 donation. Due to the uncertainty of the school year with the levy, they could not arrange an art experience. For this school year, the Visual Art teacher, Cheryl Mravec is renting an Ancient Egypt art exhibit for the 6th grade class for the week of May 13th. Funds have been given to the school.
Nancy Bowman made a motion to investigate the next school for next fall and to increase the donation to $800 for 2 school performances. Lonnie Hart seconded. All in favor. Motion carried.
Alan Willoughby, who is also a member of the Friends of the Park, wanted to know if the Arts Council would be willing to support the idea of having the murals that were painted by the high school students that were displayed on the corner of Rt. 83 and Center Ridge and are now being store at the old Ridge Lumber, to have them put up at the Cabin at South Central Park. Alan approached the city regarding this, but is afraid they will be vandalized. Alan has done research to show that historical displays are often not disturbed. Lonnie made a motion that the Arts Council support displaying the murals on the Cabin at the park. Betty P. seconded. All in favor. Motion carried.
Election of Officers: Karen Sigsworth made a motion to keep the same Officers. Alan seconded. All in favor. Motion carried.
Thank you, Betty Lou for the delicious refreshments which everyone enjoyed while visiting.
